Zef Balaj

After surviving along and challenging road to freedom, Balaj is inspired to be a successful citizen of the United States and an active Albanian community member.

Zef Balaj was born in Mzi, a little village in Northern Albania, to a family known for its resistance against the communist and totalitarian state in power at the time. He was 9 years old when he and the entire Balaj family escaped the turbulent Albania in July 1951.
