Albanian American Saimir Pirgu is one of the fastest-rising tenors on the operatic and concert map.
Saimir Pirgu is already being ranked as one of the fastest-rising artists on the operatic and concert map, with a career just a decade old. With a voice of uncommon beauty, his communicative, convincing, and artistic interpretations of many of the most popular roles in the lyric repertoire have received critical and audience acclaim whenever and wherever he performs. Pirgu is keenly aware of his Albanian heritage and is a passionate ambassador for his native country. He returns to Tirana as often as possible, as he strongly believes in giving back to his community. Every year he devotes a portion of his time and talent to organize and participate in benefit concerts for worthwhile charitable causes. In the fall of 2013, he performed on behalf of Down Syndrome Albania, and he hopes to be able to reach out to other organizations that benefit children. His journey began in the town of his birth, Elbasan, where he studied music starting at age 7 at the Liceo d’Arte, and later at the Conservatorio in Tirana.
