As a Foreign Service Specialist for the U.S. Department of State based in Bangkok, Albanian-born Gjini is a citizen of the world and looks forward to a long diplomatic career.
Enkelejda Gjini was born in Kuçovë, Albania, but she and her family immigrated to Taylor, Michigan, in 1998 when she was 15 years old, via the Diversity Visa Lottery, a congressionally mandated program by the Department of State.
Gjini attended Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and subsequently began her studies toward a Master’s of Public Administration. She is now a Foreign Service Specialist with the United States Department of State, currently working and living with her husband in Bangkok, Thailand.
