A talented engineer serves in the U.S. Army, invents and patents several devices, achieves international success, and gives back to various Albanian American organizations.

Albert Foundos was born on May 23, 1935, the oldest son of Lambi and Orthodoxia Fundo in Korçë, Albania. His father, Lambi Fundo, was a very successful businessman in Korçë and Bilisht.
In the summer of 1943, during a manifestation against the German occupation, approximately 100 people were wounded and killed. Among the dead was Koco Stralla, Foundos’s uncle.
“My mother was very despondent over her brother’s death, so in December 1943, my father decided to take the family—including my older sister and newborn baby brother—to Thessaloniki, Greece,” says Foundos. “It took us twoand- a-half days with a convoy over the mountains to travel to Thessaloniki, a
journey that would take less than three hours by car today.”
