Fatos Dervishi Esq. showed intellectual promise from his early childhood in his hometown in Durrës, Albania. He earned his first law degree from Tirana University, School of Law in 1989. After graduation he worked as a special agent of the General Investigations Office in Tirana. In 1994, the Albanian Parliament elected Dervishi as the Deputy Attorney General. He served in that capacity from 1994–1998, handling some of the most interesting and important legal cases in modern Albanian history.
When Dervishi first immigrated to the United States, he met with members of the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives in Washington, D.C., since his move had been sponsored by the U.S. government. Once he decided to stay, he settled in New York City and his wife and son followed a few months later. In 2003, Dervishi started to study at the Pace University School of Law and graduated with a Master of Law degree in May 2004. He passed his bar exam and was admitted to the New York State Bar Association.
